 Step-1: Envision your Site

First of all, envision what you want to achieve from your website and what all actions you want your customer to take on your website. Set the objectives out rightly. Ask these questions to yourself;

Step-5 Setting a Static Pages or Blog

Set the page as Static or Blog

Choose your page from the Home page option and Publish.

For blog posts:

Select your blog page from in Post Page drop-down and Publish.

Step-6 Creating a Menu

Once the pages are created, arrange and link them in a menu for easy navigation. It will create a better user experience for readers. Easy navigation means, facilitating the reader in browsing. Below is the menu screenshot of my site;

The path is

My Site  ⇒  Design  ⇒ Customize   ⇒ Menu   (If your theme has a default/primary menu then you will have the new window).

After you click the “Menu”, the next window will appear “Click primary”  on clicking this you reach the next window. On the next window click pages and a number of items will appear, just add an item to your menu. In the below screenshot, all the windows are placed in the same order;

If the theme does not already have a default/primary menu then click create “Choose New Menu”

  • Give your Menu a name
  • A position, where to appear your menu
  • Click “Next” (Begin adding items to your menu)

This all you were adding the pages you already had published, but if you want to add a new page into your menu, just click “Add items”, you can add several different types of menu items.

For example, clicking “Add items”, you see another window, just click “pages” and add any item to the menu under the Pages and click it for the menu.

Further, you can reorder the menu navigation with the help of arrows or by drag or drop. You can create submenus by nesting the item under the main menu with the help of arrows or by drag or drop.

Note: When you add a new page or a new post, a blank page will be added to your menu. You can add the content later.

Where to display Menu?

Just underneath “Add items”, there is a setting for “Menu Location”. See the screenshot below. Select the main location and the menu will display on the main location, in accordance with the location set in the theme.

You can delete any of the items just by clicking the arrow on the menu display window, as a result down below another window will appear with the button “Remove”. Just click “Remove” and the item will be removed.

Step-7. Setting the headers

By default, the site displays the title in the header. But you can turn any photo into a custom header. To display the custom header or site logo, first, you need to turn off the display by default. To turn off the default, Just un-check the checkbox. This falls in the site identity in the customize window.

Step-8 Adding Widgets makes your site flashy

If you want to add tools or content in the form of text, images, video or audio, in the sidebars or footer, use the relevant widget. Basically, a widget is the word used for these additional tasks. Use text widget, video widget, image widget or audio widget and many more widgets to make your task easier to customize the content of your sidebars or footers.

How to access the Widget?

Simple!

My site   ⇒      click customize  ⇒    click widget   ⇒    Click Add a widget (In the menu widget area. It will show you the list of widgets in alphabetical order).

  • Click on the Widget to add
  • Configure the widget setting
  • Configure the widget accessibility so as to appear on the only certain page while hidden on certain pages.
  • Just click visibility

(Be mindful that visibility is control by the following factors).

  • Page type
  • Date
  • Category
  • Tags
  • Author
  • Taxonomy

If you want to remove a widget, click delete in the configuration window.
